Stake weekly recap: Limbo gets a Second Bet, Antonelli is world champion and Canelo takes his belt back
What a weekend at Stake that was. Kimi Antonelli is F1 world champion at 20, Canelo is a champion again, and Milan and Boca both got derby wins over their rivals. We’ve also been busy with Limbo, which has a new feature a lot of you have been asking for.
Limbo now lets you bet twice on the same round
Limbo has been one of our most played Stake Originals for years with good reason and we’ve just made it even better! To keep the magic that everyone recognizes, the odds and the way it plays are exactly the same. What’s new is the Second Bet.
Flip the Second Bet toggle on and you can place two bets on the same result, each with its own target multiplier and win chance. So you could play it safe with one bet at 2x and take a swing with the other at 50x, all on one round. They’re settled separately, so one can win while the other loses. You’ll see two target pills on screen when it’s switched on, and there’s a new sound and visuals when both land.
A couple of smaller things too. Your target multiplier now turns green when you win, which sounds minor but makes it much easier to follow at high speed. There’s also a new Session History button that shows every bet from your session in a pop-up, and you can download the whole thing as a CSV if you like keeping track of your numbers.
New to Limbo? Our Limbo game guide walks you through it.
The weekend that was
Antonelli is world champion
He only needed ninth in Mexico, and he finished third. Kimi Antonelli is the youngest world champion in F1 history at 20, and the first Italian to win it since 1953. Max Verstappen won the race after holding Lewis Hamilton off at the end, but the day belonged to Kimi Antonelli!
Eternal Fire win Stake Ranked Episode 5
Not many had Eternal Fire down as winners at the start of the week but they came through the lower bracket, knocked out Astralis on the way, and then found themselves 2-0 down to Fnatic in the grand final. They won the next three maps. It’s a huge result for them heading into the Major!
Derby weekend lived up to it
Bayern vs Dortmund finished 2-2. Harry Kane, in his first game since winning the Ballon d’Or, missed a penalty, and Dortmund equalised in the 89th minute. The two teams are now level at the top of the Bundesliga.
Over in Italy, AC Milan beat Inter 3-1, their fourth derby win in a row and Inter’s first loss of the season. And in Buenos Aires, Boca beat River 1-0 at La Bombonera thanks to a Di Lollo header from a corner.
Canelo’s back on top
Canelo vs Mbilli went the full 12 rounds and Canelo won it clearly on all three cards. He’s the WBC super middleweight champion again, and Mbilli has his first ever loss.
Coming up this week
Sao Paulo Grand Prix
The title’s done, but Interlagos rarely gives you a boring race. F1 is in Brazil this weekend for the Sao Paulo GP, and with Verstappen and Hamilton fighting for wins at the end of the season, there’s still plenty to bet on. The race is on Sunday and you can find our take in our F1 picks blog.
UFC Fight Night in Vegas
Quick heads up: Sean Brady has pulled out injured, so Bonfim vs Brady is off! The card will still go ahead on Saturday with heavyweights Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker in the new main event. You’ll find it on the UFC Fight Night page, and UFC Split Decision Insurance still covers you if your Winner pick loses on a split.
India in New Zealand
The India vs New Zealand ODI series carries on with the second match on Saturday. If you think Kohli or Rohit will get a half century, our RO-KO Special boosts the odds on either of them making 50+ by 50%. Just add the marked selection to your betslip.
Worlds knockouts
League of Legends Worlds is into the knockout stage now. Through to the grand final, our LoL Worlds Odds Boost gives you 10% better odds on the favourite to win Map 1 in every match (pre-match singles, max $15 per boosted pick). Our Worlds predictions blog has down who we think will win it all!
Tennis
The Paris Masters is still going, and the women’s season ends with the WTA Finals, which start this Sunday. They’ve moved from Riyadh to Indian Wells this year, so the top eight women will be playing in California.
BLAST Rivals Fall
Eight teams, $1 million, starting Monday. BLAST Rivals Fall is one of the last big events before the Singapore Major, so it’s a good look at who’s in form.
